Ojai Dory Company is proud to offer for sale its beautiful, hand built, 20 foot Open Water Dory. It is symmetrical fore and aft and can be rowed in either direction by one or two oarsmen. This boat is perfect for open water transit with room for dogs and gear.
This dory is of lapstrake design. This design allows boats to be lighter and to move through the water very quickly and efficiently. The design increases lateral stability while it lets the craft slip through waves. The extra stout gunwales greatly stiffen the shell to provide structural strength. Overall the boat is very strong, stable and maneuverable. Perfect for professional or recreational rowing.
• The hull is Baltic birch, gunwales and floor are fir, the seats are redwood, the oar lock blocks are mahogany and the foot stretchers are white oak.
• Watertight cabinets in the bow and stern.
• All wood has been treated with numerous coats of two part epoxy sealer, two part epoxy primer and polyurethane topside paints above the waterline. Below waterline has been treated with copper self-ablative paint. There are 2 heavy coats on entire hull and 3 at waterline and other high wear areas. The entire hull has been treated with at least 8 coats combined, inside and out.
• The boat is outfitted with 4 Cobra oarlocks and 4 Sawyer 9′ 6″ GIG V-lam spoon blade ocean rowing oars.
