After 25 years of ownership, Shira is for sale. The owner, now 96, ensured Shira was hauled every year, new zincs and anti fouling, and general maintenance were completed each season. She was last hauled May 2014. It is time for new owners.
Shira is a unique yacht, 50 years old, in good condition with beautiful lines. She retains her original interior and fittings.
However, she needs a thorough cleaning and refurbishing. There are many layers of varnish which need to be stripped and re-done. The engines need detailing, and the entire vessel needs a thorough going through, hose clamps checked/replaced, etc. However, even in her present condition, sheltered in her boathouse, she is ready and usable.
She is a perfect coastal cruiser, economical to run, seaworthy without too deep a draft, equipt with radar and marine chart plotter as well as paper charts. Shira attracts attention where ever she goes. At anchor or at the dock, you can be sure of admiration, and with refinishing, she is a certain classic yacht show winner.
