Loafalong is a William Hand Jr design built by Vincent Serio in Hampton Virginia and is offered at $37,000 Built in 1928 she is 40′ long having a beam of 10′ and 6″ with a draft of 3′ . Her construction is juniper planking with batten seams and copper rivets over oak frames.
Today she is ready to cruise after a long list of upgrades and repairs. Diesel powered by a Mercedes M80 she is economical to operate. Recent repairs and upgrades include: Running gear: New SS prop shaft, vibration coupler damper, cutlass bearing, Re-conditioned propeller, re-bed and re-fasten shaft log box and strut. Hull: Re-fasten with 2,325 bronze screws. Engine: New exhaust system with a custom copper riser, fiberglass elbow, hose, clamps. Removed heat exchanger cleaned out, flushed out engine block. A new raw water pump and water hose, intake strainer were installed with a new alternator, fuel filter assembly, oil filter, oil, fuel filter, one injector. Electrical: 30 amp main distribution panel with transfer switch for inverter, 2000 watt inverter, three stage battery charger, 4D battery, 27 series battery and selector switch. Marine grade wire and outlets installed aft and forward cabins. New marina grade 12 volt wiring and fuse panel. Electronics: New Eclipse VHF radio, Raytheon auto-tiller pilot, two flat screen TV's and antenna system, DVD player. Water System: 60 gallon plastic tank plumbed to three hand pump and sinks with pumps rebuilt (new leather and valves). Par II manual head with a Lectra San treatment system. Lighting: 12 volt system wired with marine grade wire, original bronze light fixture are rebuilt with new switch and screw base. Bilge Pumps: One Lovett 1200, one Rule 1100 and one original hand pump. Ground Tackle: One 25 Lb and one 35 Lb Danforth anchor with short chain and 5/8 line, boarding transom ladder, 1/2 dock lines.
