17’ Piscataqua River Wherry
Traditionally constructed of cedar planking on oak frames and fastened with copper rivets, this fine-lined rower has lapstrake sides and is very quick and stable in the water. The Piscataqua River wherry was a type of dory developed in the 19th century to ferry people between Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, Maine, before a bridge crossing was constructed. Like original examples, this one has a small compartment under the stern sheets where the ferryman could store his lunch – still a useful feature. This all wooden boat was hand built in 2008 at the Alexandria Seaport Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia. Garage kept, this example is in excellent condition. Two new American Traders spruce oars are included. $1,500 or best offer.

1937 Herreshoff 12 1/2 - Beautifully Restored - HULL #1397
A perfectly restored Herreshoff 12 1/2 (ex DOVEKIE) originally built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company is now offered for sale by Block & Becket Shipwrights in Bristol, RI. This original 12 1/2 (hull #1397 complete with builder's plate) has been restored with the utmost effort and detail to insure her structural integrity and beauty, while maintaining her originality. Among a long list of other work, she received 15 new frames, three new floor timbers, new canvased cedar decks and bulkheads, along with new mahogany coamings. She is gaff-rigged with cedar planking on white oak frames, and includes a new Triad trailer. She has much of the original hardware with various replacement pieces through J.M. Renick & Sons. On the rigging, turnbuckles have been replaced and the shrouds have been parcelled and served. New sails will be included in the final sale. She has complete coats of varnish on her brightwork and spars, and both the interior and exterior have been painted. She is ready for launch. She has always fished with D-Laboe as her homeport and with LAB-6 as the fishing number.
